If you’ve ever tried to get around Las Vegas without a reliable mode of transportation, you may have found yourself frustrated and walking. During the busiest times, it can be difficult to grab a taxi to get where you need to go in a reasonable amount of time. Have no fear! There are two transportation super heroes willing to save the day, and your aching feet, by offering you a ride to your destination. That’s right, Lyft and Uber are now operating in Las Vegas.

Find out how much your home is worth in 15 seconds!

Need a Lyft?

Lyft is active in cities all across the nation, but they are brand new to the Las Vegas area. Anyone wishing to use their service must download their free app in order to secure a ride. Once you have the app, you can match yourself with a driver who will get you to your destination.

The app allows you to see how long you’ll have to wait for your driver. It gives you photographs of your driver and the car you’ll be expecting. Paying for the ride is easy, too. You simply decide if you want to add a tip and click the payment button within the app. No need to carry cash with you or worry about spare change!

Feeling a little insecure about using Lyft? All drivers must be 21+ and have an active driver’s license that is at least a year old. They are required to pass a background check and a driving record check. Their vehicle must meet certain standards to ensure that you are being transported safely. Lyft does the homework on the drivers so that you can just relax and enjoy the ride.

Using Lyft is affordable. There is a base charge of $2.40 and a cost of $1.85 per mile. There is a minimum cost set at $5. These fees may be subject to change, so you should check your app for current prices. Or, you can check Lyft’s official website for more details on fees and cancellation penalties. The best thing about Lyft is that it’s right there, ready and waiting, 24 hours a day, every single day.

Choosing an Uber Ride

Uber is used on a global level. It’s available in 60 countries right now, but it is constantly expanding to new countries and new cities within the United States. Their presence in Las Vegas is sure to shake things up and make traveling throughout the city more of a pleasure.

Uber has a free app that you can download and use to access their service. With one easy tap, you can choose your destination and find the closest driver. Even if you have no idea what the exact address of your location is, the app will use a GPS feature to do the work for you. You’ll get the information on your driver, and when they arrive you’ll receive a text. The app allows you to get an estimate of the ride cost beforehand, and you can pay for it using the app because of the information you’ll have on file. How cool is that?

Uber does everything within their power to ensure you have a safe ride. Drivers are carefully screened and go through multiple background and criminal checks. Each driver’s record is checked through the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Riders get to leave reviews once they reach their destination. You can rate things such as professionalism, driving, car quality, and arrival time. Drivers want to keep these rating as high as possible, and this helps make sure that you’ll have a quality experience.

The Benefits of Using a Driver

Choosing Lyft or Uber can be a safer option when you’re traveling alone. Using these apps means that your location has been noted and someone is on the way to pick you up. No more walking home at night and dealing with that anxiety.

You can rest assured that someone will be held accountable for your experience. There is a record of your transaction, so if anything doesn’t go as planned you won’t have to wonder who your driver was during the trip.

They are working hard to make sure you have a safe trip because that is their business. This can add a level of security when it comes to knowing the vehicle is safe, the driver is trustworthy, and there is always proper insurance in place.

Whether you choose to drive your own car, travel on foot, or use one of these new ride options in Las Vegas, The Ballen Network hopes to see you out there enjoying everything Las Vegas has to offer.
