A Look at Their History
Many travelers throughout American history have enjoyed a meal at a roadside hash house along their travel route. These restaurants were usually small establishments that served affordable home-style meals that were delicious and filling.
Inspired by the idea of the food they loved from their Indiana roots, Craig “Andy” Beardslee and Johnny Rivera founded their first Hash House A Go Go in July of 2000 in San Diego, California. The Hash House part of their name is a nod to old style favorites like biscuits and gravy. They added A Go Go to the name as a wink to the twist they add to those old favorite recipes. Adding a delightful twist of something new to old favorites like hand-hammered pork tenderloins put Hash House A Go Go on the map when it came to must-visit locations in San Diego.
When something is as incredible as Hash House A Go Go, it is destined to expand. The founders of Hash House A Go Go teamed up with Jim Rees, Bill Underhill, and Jim Nyberg in 2005 to establish RUN Restaurants, LLC. These successful and experienced restauranteurs set out to expand and bring the Hash House A Go Go experience to people outside of San Diego. Currently, there are Hash House A Go Go restaurants in San Diego, Chicago, Connecticut, Florida, and Nevada.
